Yasser (Mohammad-Ali) Mossayebzadeh, a Christian convert and member of the Church of Iran, was given a temporary furlough from Evin prison after he tested positive for COVID-19. Mossayebzadeh was arrested, along with fellow church members, in a series of raids by the Ministry of Intelligence agents in Rasht in 2016. He was tried in Branch 26 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court and sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment on the charge of “acting against national security” through propagating house churches and promoting Zionist Christianity. He also was sentenced to eighty lashes because of drinking Communion wine during a church service.
