The passports of Mohammad Azad and Ebrahim Rahmanjam, students of the Islamic University of Medina, were confiscated at the airport after their return to Iran.
The two Sunni students, who had been studying at the Islamic University of Medina for two years and had returned to Iran for the end-of-term holiday, were detained at the airport on Monday, August 26th, while going back to the UAE, and their passports were seized.
“One of these students is detained at Lamerd Airport and the other at Shiraz Airport, and after a while, both of them are released. “But the authorities have confiscated both of their passports so that they can no longer leave the country to continue their studies.”
The ban on Sunni students attending universities in Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia intensified during the presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and continues to this day.
