The court of appeals reduced Yousef Nadarkhani’s imprisonment sentence from ten years to six years, in addition to two years of exile in Nikshahr in Sistan and Baluchistan Province. Nadarkhani, a Christian convert and pastor for the Church of Iran, was arrested during a house church meeting in Rasht in 2016. It is to be noted that, he was charged with “apostasy” in 2009, then sentenced to death in 2010, a decision that was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2011. Following an international outcry, however, he was acquitted of apostasy and sentenced to three years imprisonment.
