He was beaten and insulted by security forces at the time of his arrest. The Spokesman of the Consultative Assembly of Yarsan Civil Activists was released after about three days from Dizel Abad prison. There is no reporting on the reason for his arrest.
Hayati had already been deprived of pursuing his higher academic education because of his belief in the Yarsani faith. The officials of Razi University did not allow him to defend his thesis and receive a master’s degree in political science. According to Hayati, the officials informed him of a secret letter on his file indicating that he cannot receive his degree because he mentioned Yarsani as his religion, which is not recognized by the Islamic Republic. Hayati is also a former teacher. During the so-called Cultural Revolution in the early 1980s, he was expelled from his job because of his affiliation with the Yarsani faith.
