In June 2021, Mostafa Daneshjou has stated this issue in a Clubhouse chat room called “Do memorialize,” which is mostly about the situation of political prisoners in Iran.
Similarly, Mostafa Daneshjou, Farshid Yadollahi, and Amir Eslami were also deprived of continuing their higher education in prison several years ago. They had been arrested after a deadly confrontation between Basij members and Gonabadi Dervishes that occurred in the small city of Kovar in Fars Province in 2011. Along other managers and editors of the Majzooban-e Noor website, they provided comprehensive news coverage of the Gonabadi Dervish community, including the government’s crackdown on Dervishes in Kovar. They were sentenced to long prison terms on fabricated charges, but in fact because of their work at the Majzooban-e Noor website. In prison, this group of Dervish rights’ activists were subjected to mistreatment and suffered discrimination in having been denied medical treatment and barred from continuing their academic studies.
