In recent days, Sunni Arabic reference books have been collected and removed along with some Latin books from the international section of the book fair.
During the first two days of the book fair, the International Committee for Book Content Supervision Committee collected Arabic and Sunni reference books and some Latin titles for what they called “non-compliance with the fair’s criteria in terms of content.”
Ali Fereydoni, Secretary of Content Supervision of the International Section of the 29th Tehran Book Fair, told the media that the reason for collecting books in the Arabic section was “books promoting extremism and ethnic divisions, especially religious divisions and the propaganda of Wahhabism.”
