In the leaflets, the Gonabadi Dervishes’ hosseinieh in Karaj, also known as Seyed-al-Shohada Hosseinieh, was compared with Masjid al-Dirar, a mosque built by the Prophet Mohammad’s rivals and eventually destroyed by Prophet Mohammad. In the government’s propaganda machine, references to the early history of Islam as a punch line and get the intended political interpretation is very common.
