About two weeks earlier, the 27-year-old had been arrested by security forces during an anti-government protest in Karaj, Alborz Province. As some reports indicate, he had been severely tortured and lost his life in custody. The authorities threatened his family to not speak about what happened to their son. Moradi was originally from a village in the Goran region in west Kermanshah.
