Baqir Gholami, a Sunni activist, was arrested

Baqir Gholami (Naami), a Sunni activist living in Ahvaz, has been arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence.

The Arab activist was convicted in August along with eight others in Branch 2 of the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Mohammad Baqir Mousavi.They were sentenced to one year in prison for “organizing meetings to spread Salafi thoughts”, “hostility to the Shiite religion”, “inclining to Salafi thoughts” and “communicating with foreigners and disturbing the security of the country through the publication of Salafi thoughts”. They had spent their imprisonment in Karun Prison.
