An appeals court upheld the sentences of El-Yasin community members. On June 14, 2019, Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced 24 members of the El-Yasin community, a spiritual movement, to prison terms ranging from 13 to two years. The El-Yasin community members follow Peyman Fattahi, also known as “Ilia mim Ramallah.” Fattahi was sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment. He received a ten-year sentence for forming a group with the aim of conspiring against national security. In addition, he was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for “disturbing public opinion” and one year of imprisonment for conspiring against national security.
