In the first six months of 2019, at least 75 people were killed and wounded as a result of actions by armed agents in Sistan and Baluchestan. Of this number, 25 were Afghan refugees killed by a car which overturned as a consequence of being chased and shot at by officers. The 50 others were Baloch citizens who were killed or wounded by gunfire. Of the 50, 29 were killed and 21 were injured.
The individuals mentioned in this report were primarily engaged in the sale of commodities or fuel, which the Islamic Republic refers to as “contraband fuel and goods.”
