3,024 villages in Sistan and Baluchestan are deprived of any water supply system and meet their needs with the help of water tankers.

The Statistical Center of Iran says that the population of Sistan from 2006 to 2011 shows a decreasing trend. One of the reasons for this emergent decline from migration is due to the drying up of existing wells in the region.
