Taheri, who was originally from Kermanshah Province, set himself on fire in Hamedan while his companions were filming the scene. Following multiple incidents of self-immolation by Yarsani men, Yarsanis staged peaceful gatherings in different cities. The protestors declared they have no political demand and only want an end to the discrimination and humiliation of the Yarsani people.
