The flogging sentence was carried out against Zaman Fadaei in Evin prison

The flogging sentence (80 lashes) was carried out against Zaman (Saheb) Fadaei, a Christian convert and member of the Church of Iran, in Evin prison. He was issued this sentence for drinking Communion wine during a church service. Judge Mashallah Ahmadzadeh, head of Branch 26 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court at the time, sentenced him to ten years’ imprisonment on the charge of “acting against national security” through the establishment of a house church and promoting Zionist Christianity in 2017. The court of appeals later reduced his sentence to six years’ imprisonment. In 2018, Zaman Fadaei was also sentenced to one and half years’ imprisonment and two years of exile in Nehbandan in South Khorasan Province on the charge of “propaganda against the government.”
