Mehdi Akbari, Mehdi Rouhparvar, Simin Soheilinia, and Fatemeh Sharifi, all Christian converts, were tried at Branch 28 of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court, presided by Judge Mohammad Moghise. Mehdi Akbari, Simin Soheilinia, and Fatemeh Sharifi were sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment each on the charge of “acting against national security” through the establishment of a house church and propagating Christianity. Mehdi Rouhparvar received a sentence of five years for the same crime. Some reports indicate that Judge Moghise insulted the defendants and did not allow them to defend themselves during the hearings. They were arrested by the IRGC intelligence agents in Tehran in 2018.
